No, osteopathy is not regulated in any Canadian Province, but the Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths (NSAO) is in the process of working towards regulating Osteopathy in Nova Scotia. Ontario — with 120 members — is starting dialogue with the Department of Health to become a regulated health profession. Currently anyone can say that they practice osteopathy or use osteopathic techniques. There are currently fifty five osteopaths in Nova Scotia who are registered with the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. Only these osteopaths can bill health insurance companies for osteopathic treatment.
